Sun Tzǔ · Curated by Swan Lightfoot
Based on Lionel Giles’ translation
A distilled edition of the classic, with contemporary reflections on planning, resources, timing, and restraint. The chapter introductions connect the text to entrepreneurship and everyday decisions.
“Sometimes we become so focused on the fight in front of us that we lose sight of the bigger picture. This book reminds us that preservation, timing, and restraint are just as powerful as confrontation.”From the introductionView on Amazon

I’m the writer behind Unfettered LLC, an independent platform for original writing and commissioned content. I’m interested in making substantial ideas accessible without losing what gives them value.
My edition of The Art of War, curated under the name Swan Lightfoot, began as a self-directed publishing project: a way to take a book into the marketplace and learn the process firsthand. I wanted to create something concise and digestible that highlights the important ideas in Sun Tzǔ’s work and connects them to modern life.
It was both a practical education in publishing and a book offered to real readers. That combination—learning through the work while making something useful—is part of what draws me to writing. There is room for rigor, imagination, and the occasional raised eyebrow.
